OMD Remixed By We Have Band
The British synth pop pioneers OMD, who have recently reformed for a new album, are about to release their first single. Responsible for seminal albums such as Dazzle Ships and singles such as 'Enola Gay', 'Electricity' and 'Tesla Girls', the band made up of Paul Humphreys and Andy McCluskey, will release the aptly titled History of Modern on September 17th, which sees the band pick up where they left off almost 20 years ago.
We Have Band have made a remix of 'If I Want It' up's the tempo of the original, adds buckets of dynamic percussion. The single If You Want It is released on Blue Noise on September 10th and contains remixes by Villa Nah, Club Royale, Teeth, French Horn Rebellion, Shy Child and Cold Cave. |

UK's disco-leaning indie-dance trio Friendly Fires, are set to curate a new mix for the Bugged Out label. Entitled Bugged Out! Presents Suck My Deck, the mix album contains 19 tracks from names like Tom Trago, Lindstrøm & Christabelle, Redshape, etc. including a collaboration between the band and Toronto house crew Azari & III, The two outfits are credited with the tune "Stay Here".
The band were invited to curate a special Bugged Out party in London and the huge success of the show cemented relations between the pair, with Bugged Out inviting Friendly Fires to produce a new mix CD. Read more... |

Detachments announce debut album
This Is Not An Exit have announced details of the forthcoming album from Detachments, which was produced by Simian Mobile Disco’s James Ford and is set for release on September 20.
The London based troupe led by creative force and singer Bastien Marshal have caused ripples of excitement on the more discerning dancefloors over the past few years with singles such as "Circles" and "H.A.L." not least thanks to superlative remixes from the likes of Andrew Weatherall,Martyn and Ikonika.
The album will be preceded by the enigmatic pop of “Holiday Romance” which is set for release on September 6 and comes backed with remixes from Cosmo (Bitches Brew), Glaswegian duo Wrong Island and Cave Paintings boss Andy Blake. |

Hot Chip Have Remixes! EP out in September
Hot Chip have confirmed details of a new remix EP re-working tracks from their album 'One Life Stand'. Titled 'We Have Remixes' contains some unreleased remixes. Canadian ex-pat Caribou has agreed to take part in the project, tackling the album track 'Brothers'. The Remixes’ features:

David Bowie 'The King Of Reinvention' To Be Honoured
A Tribute To David Bowie, is a project which began in early 2008 is now set to see the light of day. The album which will be a benefit for charity War Child- one that Bowie himself supports, will be a homage to Bowie by an eclectic array of artists, a musical reinvention of the man who invented the art of reinvention itself.
The record sees contributions from Devendra Banhart (Megapuss), Vivian Girls, Carla Bruni, A Place To Bury Strangers, Duran Duran, ex-Slits Viv Albertine and legendary avant-garde bassist/musician Mick Karn. With Warpaint, Chairlift and Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros coming on board later on.
The track listing is every bit as chameleon-like as Bowie himself, making sure there will be something on the album for every Bowie fan. |

Morrissey Will Re-release 'Bona Drag' With Six Unreleased Tracks
Morrissey and EMI will release his album 'Bona Drag' with six unreleased tracks to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its original release. On 1960's 'Major Minor' label, the release comes on 4th October with both vinyl and cd editions remastered and overseen by Morrissey himself.
The six additional unreleased songs are :
1. Happy Lovers At Last United (Outtake from ‘Sunday’ sessions)
2. Lifeguard On Duty (Outtake from Viva Hate sessions)
3. Please Help The Cause Against Loneliness (demo) (Outtake from Viva Hate, previously covered by Sandie Shaw)
4. Oh Phoney (Outtake from Bona Drag sessions)

Gang Of Four Announce Release Date And Remix Competition
Gang Of Four have announced the release date for their new album, 'Content', and its first single 'Who Am I?'.
'Content' will be released on October 4th on Groenland Deutschland GmbH on CD, vinyl and the 'Ultimate Concert Can' which features the album, photos, ceramic tiles and vials of the band member's blood amongst other items.
The first single from the album will be 'Who Am I?', released on September 13th. Also The Gang have posted on their website instructions for what will be a Remix Competition and the closing date is Friday 13th August. Best remix as voted by fans will feature in a G04 digital bundle released later this year. |
